JSU Honor Band Application Information

May 6-8, 2010

Students wishing to apply must go to http://www.marchingsoutherners.org and click on Honor Band Information. From there students will complete the Online Application, submit it, print it, and turn it in to Mr. Haskew by Thursday, March 25, 2010. Students selected will be notified and further information and payment will then be gathered.

The spring trip rehearsals will be as follows:

Monday, April 19 from 4:00-6:30 at SHS (Pizza will be served at 6:30 and the Joint meeting at 7:30)
Thursday, April 22 from 4:00-7:00 at HBHS
Monday, April 26 from 4:00-7:00 at SHS

The Joint Meeting between HBHS and SHS will be Monday, April 19 2010, 7:30 PM. The Pride Music Association will meet at 7:00 in the Band Room for our monthly business meeting.

Last night at the band parent meeting I realized I had not posted the SHS and RMS results from MPA.

Southside High School Symphonic Band - Superior Rating

Rainbow Middle School Concert Band - Superior Rating

I am very proud of the students for their hard work and dedication to our band program! Each student will receive a medal and the bands will receive a trophy to be displayed in the respective schools.

As voted on last night, the trip price has been raised $30 to reflect the additional cost associated with the broadway show (The Lion King) and the bus price. The base price of the trip is now $805.

The additional amount is due as soon as possible, but no later than April 19 (date of joint SHS/HB trip meeting).

The mentor program will not meet during the week of March 8. I was not able to complete the schedule due to not having enough high school members turn in their availability information. I hope to have a schedule published this week so we can begin the week after spring break. I appologize for the inconvenience. ... << MORE >>

I need high school members to turn in Mentor Program sheets or let me know which day they are available (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday). I have had three high school member turn in their information. I have to get the schedule posted so we can get started back next week. ... << MORE >>

Shrek the Musical will no longer be on Broadway while we are in NYC. Because of this we have been forced to look at different options. The seniors from Hokes Bluff and Southside have decided on a new choice: The Lion King. Thee are enough seats available for our group but the tickets are more expensive (hence one of the reason we chose Shrek to start with).

In addition, due to individuals from SHS and HBHS backing out of the trip, the cost of the bus person is raised slightly.
